David Salle

David Salle, painter, printmaker, film director, theater and costume designer, and
writer. has since the 1980s been one of the most prominent and influential artists to shape postmodernism. Challenging decades of Modernist abstraction, he joined
figuration to an extremely varied and intense pictorial language.

Mr. Salle has had more than ninety solo exhibitions in the United States and abroad, and his work is included in the most important museum collections in America, Europe, and Asia. Exhibitions of his work have taken place at the Whitney Museum
of American Art, the Stedelijk Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles,
Castello di Rivoli in Turin, Italy, The Tel Aviv Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, the Guggenheim Bilbao, and the Kestnergesellschaft Museum in Hannover Germany.
