An extraordinarily beautiful volume, Works on Paper was the first and most comprehensive presentation at that time of Richard Diebenkorn's Ocean Park drawings extending over two decades. His radiant, abstract canvases known as the Ocean Park series are the paintings for which the artist is best known and most respected. The works on paper from this series, exceeding four hundred and fifty in number, reveal the range and complexity of the artist's thoughts and the full expression of drawing at its intersection with painting. The book presented one hundred forty-three drawings selected from the Ocean Park series since 1967 to its conclusion in 1987, arranged by year in color, full page reproductions of unsurpassed elegance.

This volume is as close to perfection as an art book can get.
